As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will play a key role on our Finance Team with exposure to areas such as: financial reporting & analysis, account reconciliations, and leases. The ideal candidate will be a designated Chartered Professional Accountant and be ready to take part in a fast-paced and exciting environment that is continuously growing!
Role and responsibilities include:
- Assist in the month-end close process performed by the finance team, including the preparation and review of journal entries.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly operating statements presented to the Operations team and Executive Management of both Alcanna Inc. and Nova Cannabis Inc.
- Prepare accounting journal entries, including recurring IFRS 16 lease journal entries.
- Perform monthly rent reconciliations and review prior to payment.
- Prepare quarterly and annual reconciliations and IFRS 16 lease continuity schedules, investigate discrepancies and propose accounting adjustments as needed.
- Be the liaison between finance and real estate departments to ensure lease software is accurate and up to date
- Assist with year-end audits, including the completion of related audit documentation in a timely manner
- Assist with annual testing over internal control over financial reporting (ICFR) to ensure compliance with COSO 2013
- Assist with special projects as required in support of finance initiatives
- Ensure internal and external timelines are maintained and deadlines met
- Communicate effectively to resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
- Other administrative, reporting and data entry duties as required.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
- CPA designation or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2-3 years of accounting experience
- Previous experience with IFRS 16 accounting standards would be considered an asset
- Previous experience with Lucernex or other leasing software would be considered an asset
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required with proficiency in other MS Office applications
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and prioritize various deliverables
- Ability to think critically and complete work with a high level of accuracy
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
- Power BI experience would be considered an asset
