As the Manager of Accounts Payable you will report to the Controller and be responsible for managing and mentoring the Accounts Payable department while focusing on compliance, process review and ensuring accounts payable performance objectives are met.  The ideal candidate will be ready to take part in a fast-paced and exciting environment that is continuously growing; possess strong leadership, analytical, and inter-personal, and organizational skills; be results-driven, and have an ability to motivate and mentor team members to build a strong cohesive accounting unit.

 

Role and responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the AP team by assigning and outlining specific activities, advising on technical problems, and reviewing individual work, and providing regular feedback and coaching.
  • Lead/develop onboarding and training while providing ongoing mentorship for the AP team.
  • Delegate and oversee the AP team members’ tasks.
  • Openly communicate with internal department and vendors in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Oversee the AP cycle, ensuring all invoices are entered accurately and payments are executed properly and accurately, and in a timely manner.
  • Constantly evaluate, identify, and make recommendations on the modification and revision of current procedures and processing related to AP to implement process efficiencies.
  • Oversee the corporate card and expense management reporting system.
  • Manage monthly closing of accounts payable and posting of month-end information.
  • Assist in completion of accounts payable quarter-end working papers.
  • Assist in the completion of special projects and/or ad hoc projects, as required.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with our vendors
  • Ensure the AP accounts and subledger are up to date and balanced.
  • Ensure internal control environment is operating effectively.
  • Assistance during audits as required.

 

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a similar role with proven supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional ability to build rapport and partnerships with team members.
  • Hands-on leader, with a ‘can-do, roll-up-your sleeves’ attitude.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required with proficiency in other MS Office applications
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics D365 or other Microsoft based accounting systems is considered an asset.
